Facelift of Ertiga launched

Maruti Suzuki has launched the Ertiga facelift in India at an introductory price of Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The facelifted Ertiga gets cosmetic as well as mechanical updates in the form of an automatic gearbox for the petrol models and SHVS (smart hybrid vehicle by Suzuki) technology for the diesel models.
The external changes include a new chrome grille, revised bumpers, a chrome strip above the rear number plate and chrome garnish on the fog lamps. Also included in the update package is a  revised design for the alloy wheels as well as specific badging for the AT and SHVS technology. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is available  in six shades - silky silver, superior white, serene blue, granite grey, radient  beige and pearl blue blaze of which the last two are new shades.
The interior changes we can see the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and MirrorLink system, electrically foldable ORVMs, button start with smart key, 12V socket in the second row, revised fabrics and finally 50:50 split third row seats. On the safety front, driver’s side airbag and seat belt reminder are standard across all variants. Higher spec models also get passenger airbag, ABS with EBD and seat belt with pre-tensioner. It is optional for the base models. Another two optional extras are rear parking sensors with camera.
Under the hood, the Ertiga facelift gets two options. The petrol engine is a 1.4-litre unit that gives 94bhp and 130Nm. It can be had with a five-speed manual or a four-speed AT which is new for the Indian market and available in a single variant. The diesel on the other hand is the 1.3-litre Multijet unit that gives 90bhp and 200Nm of torque and has been mated with the five-speed manual. It has been mated to the SHVS technology and is the second vehicle after the Ciaz to get this update in Maruti’s Indian stable.
The introduction of the SHVS technology has marginally increased the prices of all existing diesel variants except for VDi and ZDi variant which are now Rs 13,000 and 3,000 cheaper than the outgoing model. However, there now two new variants VDi (o) and ZDi (+). The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga competes with the Honda Mobilio and the Chevrolet Enjoy.
