Ford India reveals Figo Aspire

Ford has officially revealed Figo Aspire compact sedan during the inauguration of their new production facility in Sanand Gujarat. Aspire is likely to be launched by mid of this year. It is featured with Ford’s Kinetic 2.0 design philosophy.

On the interior side it comes with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system with a 3.5-inch display screenscreen. The voice guided SYNC offers, Bluetooth phone integration and lets you control your apps, music and phone, hands-free. The system is equipped with the - AppLink. With the help of SYNC, AppLink lets you use your selected smartphone apps through voice commands, eg. ESPNcricinfo app. Moreover, for lower trims Figo Aspire features a unique My-Ford-Dock , it helps in docking your mobile on the dashboard for charging, music streaming and navigation.

Under the hood Aspire will get both new petrol and diesel engine. Ford reveals new engines are new 1.2-liter Ti-VCT petrol and 1.5-liter TDCI diesel. Petrol engine which is 1.2-liter TiVCT 4-cylinder motor is expected to produce in-between 85-90 bhp while torque will be under 120 Nm where as diesel engine which is 1.5-liter TDCI produce 75 bhp and torque of 195 Nm. Diesel engine is slightly de-tuned version of Fiesta/EcoSport’s 1.5-liter DV5 turbo diesel.

As in the terms of safety Aspire comes with 6 airbags including segment first side and curtain airbags. Moreover, with the SYNC equipped version, it also features Ford’s Emergency Assistance, the system calls the emergency services (108) in case of any casualty (if airbags deployed) using your connected phone automatically. Figo Aspire competes with Swift Dzire, Xcent, Amaze and Zest.

Mercedes Benz launches CLS 250 CDI in India

Mercedes launches CLS 250 CDI in India for 76.5lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The car sits in between the E and the S Class, and will be sold in the country as a CBU (Complete Built Unit). In this update Mercedes gives the new styling, a revamped interior and plenty of tech upgrades.

The majority of styling updates on the CLS are upfront, consisting of a new bumper with more aggressive air intakes, and a revised grille featuring brand’s expressive diamond pattern. The internal graphic of the headlights have also been updated and now available with optional Multibeam LED technology, which automatically adjusts the light path to prevent other drivers from being blinded. Meanwhile, the regular LEDs come as standard offering. On the interior sidenew three-spoke steering wheel and an upgraded infotainment system with 8-inch display come as the major updates.

Powering the CLS 250 CDI is the same 2,143cc diesel engine. The engine comes with 200bhp of maximum power and 500Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. It's competition is with likes of Audi A7 and BMW 6-series Gran Coupe.

Mercedes Benz E400 cabriolet launched in India

Mercedes launches E400 cabriolet in India for 78.5lakhs. The car will be sold through the CBU route in the country and will serve more as a halo product (than a volume seller) in the company’s line-up.

LED headlights and sporty bumper with large air dams are the difference between cabriolet and standard E-class.Overall the Cabriolet looks almost identical to the standard E-Class, except that this one has two doors instead of four. Cabriolet comes with features like modern and latest feature of Mercedes COMAND interface , AIRCAP, a retractable deflector on the top edge of the windscreen, which forces the airflow upwards at higher speeds, significantly reducing the in-cabin noise when the roof is down.

E 400 Cabriolet is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder (V6) turbo-petrol motor, that puts maximum power of 328 bhp at 5,250 - 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 480 Nm between 1,200 - 4,000 rpm that’s routed via a nine-speed automatic gearbox. According to the company, does a 0-100 kmph in just 5.3 seconds.

Locally assembled Range Rover evoque launched

Local assembling of evoque started in Land Rover Pine plant. Now evoque starts from 48.73 lakhs ex-showroom Mumbai.Evoque was over priced earlier but now is a competitive product in-terms of pricing. Available in India in 3 and 5 door version, it is powered by both petrol and diesel engines. Currently, only diesel (2.2 Litre SD4 Diesel engine, delivering a maximum power output of 188 bhp @ 3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm @ 2,000 rpm, mated to a 9-speed auto box) 5-door is locally assembled.

Evoque currently offered in three derivatives: Pure, Dynamic and Prestige.

Is maruti bringing Celerio in diesel this coming april?

Maruti has been caught testing Celerio in diesel on Indian roads. Celerio is expected to be launched with a 800cc diesel motor, which is the smallest engine by Maruti till date. It is speculate that this newly developed motor is independently made by Maruti Suzuki India.

Testing of this car has been spotted several times now in and around Haryana and it is said that this tiny diesel is quite silent. And since it is a diesel, we expect it to be very efficient and the fact that it is a mere 800cc that could make it record-breakingly fuel efficient across the segments.

Other than this, the car will be same like the current going petrol model. Like the top spec diesel Celerio will get the same music system with bluetooth connectivity, fog lamps-front and rear, rear wiper, etc. On the price perspective, it will most probably fall under 5 lacs and hence will be pretty much desirable.

Rumours to have all new SUV by Nissan in India

After many reports that Nissan will launch its SUV Patrol by next year in the country. Rumours got a stronghold after yesterday when Nissan celebrated its 10th anniversary in India with an event that let customers drive the company’s products including the Patrol. But there is no wording by Nissan on this till now.

Currently Patrol is in its 6th generation. Patrol is powered with 5.8-litre V8 engine that produces 400bhp of power and 560Nm of torque. This is also equipped with an All-Mode 4x4 drivetrain with Multi Surface Selection and Hydraulic Body Motion Control Suspension System. Other comforts features include 13-speaker BOSE audio system, electric tilt panoramic sunroof and intelligent cruise control. The Patrol also gets safety features including forward collision warning, distance control assist, lane departure warning & prevention and blind spot warning & intervention. Patrol will compete against Toyota Land Cruiser and Mercedes-Benz GL-Class.

The 2-wheel drive variant gets a 6-speed manual transmission while the AWD gets the 6-speed auto.The safety features package in the new Captiva includes six airbags, ABS and brake assist.

Mini Cooper S launched in India

Most powerful Cooper that is Cooper S is launched for 34.65 lakhs. This variant comes with only 3 door. Cooper S features have red S badge in both the front and rear side, large air intakes and newly designed honeycomb front grille.

Cooper S is based on BMW’s new UKL front-wheel drive platform and flaunts new front suspension along with revised rear suspension set-up. This also comes with new alloy wheels and long black sunroof. Company is also offering wider 17-inch cosmos spoke light alloy wheels but this is optional.

Cooper S is powered with 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder, twinturbo petrol engine which giver power of 189bhp and torque of 280Nm. It comes with six-speed automatic steptronic gearbox which transfers power to front wheels. It covers 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.7 seconds with top speed of 233kmph.

India bound Pajero sport spotted testing in Australia

Next - gen pajero sport started testing in Australia. Reportedly this going to unveil later this year and in 2016 its going be launched in India. This time new pajero sports will get new 2.4 ltr diesel engine.

Adding more on the next-gen Pajero Sport, since Pajero’s next-gen pickup counterpart - Triton/L200 is already introduced by the Japanese automaker last year, it hints how will the new SUV look like. On the design aspect, like the Triton, Pajero will have a narrow swept back headlamps with daytime-running LEDs and beefy bumpers. While the side profile seems to be similar to that on-going SUV but the test mule seems to be long and features a prominent character waistline, just like the new Triton/L200. Moreover, interiors will also see a makeover along with addition of new features.

This time this will be powered with new 2.4 ltr MIVEC diesel engine. Despite being 100 cc less, the new motor is more powerful and efficient. It generates 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque compared to current 2.5-litres’ 176 PS and 400 Nm of torque. Transmission will be taken from current version. Of pajero sport. New pajero sport will compete new Ford Endeavour, new Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa-Fe and Chevrolet Trailblazer.

i20 active revealed by Hyundai

Korean automaker Hyundai shows it;s up coming cross i20 active. The car will be launching on 17th of march and will compete against Fiat Avventura, Toyota etios cross and Volkswagen cross polo.

On the exterior body has full body black plastic, redesigned bumper, inverted hexagonal grille, LED DRLs and large circular fog lamps, new skid plate, roof rails and projector head-lamps with daytime running lamps.

Interior of the car gets all-black dashboard with orange finish on AC vents, music system and gear knob. The upholstery too gets orange stitching which adds magnificence inside the car.

i20 active is powered with both petrol and diesel engine. Petrol engine is of 1.2 ltr which gives power of 82 Bhp at 114Nm torque and diesel engine is of 1.4 ltr U-2 CRDi engine which gives power of 88.8 Bhp at 220 Nm of troque. Petrol gives average of 17.7 km/ltr and diesel 21.9 km/ltr

Trailblazer SUV by Chevrolet spotted testing in India

Upcoming new SUV by Chevy Trailblazer has started testing on Indian roads. Chevy is looking for growth in there sales with this new vehicle as there sales is going down month by month. This is expected to launch in second half of this year. Trailblazer will compete with Toyota Fortuner , Hyundai Sant-Fe and upcoming Ford Endeavour.
Under the hood trailbazer is powered with 2.8-liter 4-cylinder ‘Duramax’ diesel engine. The 2,776 cc motor packs variable geometry turbo producing 200 hp @ 3,600 rpm and a blistering 500 Nm @ 2000 rpm max torque. Transmission options expected to be a six-speed manual and a six-speed auto.
With this Chevy will also introduce there MyLink infotainment system in India with this new SUV. This beef also packed with sporting smartphone-iPod-iPhone integration and USB, AUX along with AC settings and vehicle dynamics.

Sportier Bolt showcase in Geneva Motor Show

In line with the new sporty design , the Bolt Sport gets a new grille, projector headlamps and a sporty body kit with a new rear bumper as well and the 17-inch alloy wheels are newly designed. There are changes to the interior as well which include black leather upholstery with contrasting red stitches and accents, sunroof, Harman touch-screen infotainment system with voice recognition and SMS readout, etc. Safety features equipped with speed-dependent volume control, anti-lock braking system (ABS), corner stability control and dual airbags.

Under the hood it comes with same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine however it is tuned for higher performance and gives power of 120 bhp and 170Nm of torque. It comes with 5 speed manual gearbox and it offers the same multi drive option – Eco, City and Sport.

This will be the first performance hatchback from TATA and may be launched in India by the end of this year.

Updated Hyundai i30 shown at Geneva Motor Show

The new Hyundai i30 now comes with its turbocharged 1.6 183hp T-GDI petrol version under the hood. The i30 Turbo capable of going 0-100km/h (62mph) time of 8 seconds flat, comes only in six-speed manual form and distinguishes itself from its humble brothers by a sport bodykit, twin exhausts and sportier 18in alloys. 

Hyundai added the option of its brand new seven-speed double-clutch gearbox as well but it can be mated only with the 1.6-litre diesel and 1.6 GDI petrol engines,now that could be a disadvantage as the VW Golf, its rival, is available with a DSG auto box.Hyundai is now offering a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with better connectivity.
