Mercedes Maybach S600 and S500 launched

Mercedes-Benz has launched the ultra-luxurious Maybach S 600 and the Maybach S 500 sedan, in India, for Rs 2.60 crore and Rs 1.67 crore respectively (ex-showroom Pune). The car in the S 600 was unveiled for the global markets last year and is the replacement for the Maybach stand-alone brand.

They get the same overall design as the S-Class range but with a bigger grille and different design for the wheels. Slotting in at 5.45-metres and with a wheelbase of 3.36 metres, it is a full 20cm longer than the LWB S-Class. One of the most noticeable elements in this vehicle is the double MM Maybach specific logo.

The S 600 and S 500’s cabin is similar to that of the standard S-Class but with a host of additional features and significantly increased legroom in the rear thanks to the longer wheelbase. The expanded feature list includes the AIR-BALANCE package, silver-plated Champagne flutes, Magic Sky Control and individual automatic climate control for each of the four passengers. Mercedes-Benz has also situated the rear seats behind the cut of the rear door and therefore, has shortened the length of the rear door. In addition to all the safety options, the Maybach cars also get seatbelt airbags which are first of their kind in any automobile.

The S 600 have 6.0-litre twin turbo V12 that gives 530bhp and  830Nm of torque with power going to the rear wheels via a new 9G-Tronic gearbox. The S 500 on the other hand, is powered a twin-turbo V8 that gives 459bhp and 700Nm of torque with power going to the rear wheels via a 7G-Tronic gearbox.

The Maybach S 600 is being imported into the country via the CBU route while the German automaker is locally assembling the S 500 at its plant in Chakan.

Fiat teases new Abarth punto

Fiat India is teasing the reveal of its most anticipated hot-hatch of the year, Fiat Abarth Punto by showcasing the car in its official dual-tone color scheme on their website. The car can be seen in its black and red color scheme smacked in middle of the opening page of the website. The page also features an inactive  “coming soon” button. Possibility dictates that as the launch date draws closer, the link will eventually become active.

It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, which comes with 1.4 liter T-Jet motor which gives 145 horses and 195Nm of torque. Car goes 0-100 in under 10 seconds. The height of the car has been reduced by 20mm and this results in the overall Kerb-weight of around 1100kg. The over all power-to-weight ratio will also improve for the Abarth Punto and so will the aerodynamics.

Car comes with 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, which comes with 195/55 R16 tires. The grill will feature contrasting colors and Abarth decals on the bottom side profile. The car also flaunts a spoiler at the rear that enhances the sporty appeal when coupled with the Abarth insignias and badging.

Interiors comes  with exception to the black interior color scheme that come with sporty yellow and red stitching. A sportier instrumentation cluster and aluminum racing foot pedals are also expected to make an appearance.

Jaguar revealed F-Pace in Frankfurt motorshow

Jaguar has unveiled its first SUV, F-Pace, at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The F-Pace made a spectacular entry by completing the world’s largest 360 degree loop proving its performance crossover abilities. The F-Pace is the company’s third product to be built on Jaguar's Lightweight Aluminium Architecture after Jaguar XE and the new XF. Based on the C-X17 concept, the F-Pace also gets F-Type inspired design features such as the powerful rear haunches, fender vents and distinctive tail light graphics.

The SUV  have elements like full-LED headlights, forged 22-inch wheels and short front overhang have been carried over to the production with the F-Pace. The F-Pace can seat five people in absolute comfort with generous head and knee room, while boot space is 650 litres which is very big in size.

Interior of the car includes industry leading infotainment and connectivity systems in the form of InControl Touch Pro system. It is based around a 10.2-inch touchscreen, with a powerful quad-core processor and solid-state drive, super-fast wifi hotspot (up to 8 devices can be connected at a time), advanced navigation system with true door-to-door guidance and can also show full-screen - in 3D - in the 12.3-inch HD virtual instrument cluster.

Under the hood Jaguar F-Pace include a 180PS 2.0-litre diesel manual RWD/ AWD and automatic AWD; 240PS 2.0-litre petrol automatic RWD; 300PS 3.0-litre diesel automatic AWD; 340PS and 380PS 3.0-litre petrol automatic AWD. The F-Pace also gets a torque on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD) system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics that was first developed for the F-Type.

The F-Pace gets advanced driver assistance systems that include Autonomous Emergency Braking system with a pedestrian detection function with a state-of-the-art stereo camera (a Jaguar-first). The stereo camera also enables Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, an Intelligent Speed Limiter, and Driver Condition Monitor systems.  The F-Pace also brings the world debut of Jaguar's Activity Key, a waterproof, shockproof wristband with an integrated transponder, this segment-first, wearable technology allowing the keyfob to be securely locked inside the car.

Specifications of Renault Kwid Variants revealed

Details on specification of Renault Kwid and its variants have been revealed. The  car is  one of the most anticipated models and is expected to hit the showrooms across the country sometime this month. A total of 4 trim levels- Standard, RXE, RXL and RXT will be available for this car. As disclosed earlier, the car is powered by a 799cc three-cylinder engine that produces 54bhp. The impressive fuel efficiency of the Renault Kwid can be attributed to the lightweight construction of the car.

Car weights at 660kg and delivers a fuel-efficiency of 25.17kmpl. It has 13-inch tubeless tyres, which will be featured on all trims and the 799cc engine will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Dimensions wise, Kwid will stand at 3,679mm in length, 1,579mm in height and 1,471mm in width. The car will also feature a 180mm ground clearance and a roomy 2,422mm wheelbase. One can personalize the car with an option of 60 accessories and the company will offer the car with a 50,000km/2-year warranty.

Bentley revealed Bentayga SUV before launch

Bentley have finally revealed the long anticipated Bentley SUV, the Bentayga. It's the first SUV and features an all new 6 Litre W12 engine to propel the “fastest, most powerful, most luxurious and most exclusive SUV in the world”. The car will be launched soon in the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Bentley has developed an all new 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbocharged engine for its SUV which produces 608 PS and 900 Nm of torque. The power is delivered to all wheels, courtesy of the all wheel drive 8-speed transmission. It goes 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and topspeed of 301 km/h.

Also, the engine features cylinder deactivation, automatic coasting, and a start-stop system. The SUV will also be available in a diesel and hybrid variant in the future. With Bentley’s Drive Dynamics mode and an optional Responsive off-road setting, the Bentayga features 8 driving modes which are accessible to the driver via a dial.

From.inside,  Bentley remains a Bentley, featuring what we can expect in a luxury sedan and more. The brand claims Bentayga’s wood crafted, metal and leather interiors as ‘the finest automobile interior in the world’. The Bentayga’s 18-way adjustable rear seats and a choice of 15 color options for the leather trims, 22-way adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation and massage system. The SUV also features an 8-inch touchscreen system on the dashboard which has a 60 GB in-built storage space and supports 30 languages. For rear passengers, there is a 10.2-inch Android tablet with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth.

In the sound department, Bentley offers a top-end system which features 1,950 watts with 18 speakers and ‘super-tweeters’, capable of recreating the “highest audio frequencies”, says Bentley. Exterior include, Bentayga has the signature Bentley look with the four LED headlights and a glass roof. Underneath the car are 20 or 22-inch alloy wheels (optional) which carry a body made from aluminium, saving 236 kg when compared to a steel body.

Land Rover launches 2015 Discovery Sports

Land Rover has launched the Discovery Sport in India for Rs 46.10 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). It is the first SUV in the new Discovery family of vehicles. It is available in four variants and with a single engine and gearbox option. It competes with SUVs like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3

Interior gets a new optional 2+3+2 seating arrangement which is a first for the British automaker among its smaller range of vehicles. This is an optional extra for all variants except the entry-level variant.   It has managed to achieve this thanks to a new rear suspension and a flat floor design. It is available in four variants - S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury.

Standard features on the top-spec HSE Luxury variant include Adaptive Xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, Windsor leather seats, 10-way electrically adjustable seats for the front seats, parallel and perpendicular park assist and finally Meredian Surround 17-speaker system with rear entertainment package.

It is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that gives 148bhp and 400Nm of torque. The gearbox is the nine-speed AT, a unit that made its Indian debut with the 2015 Range Rover Evoque. This car also gets the LRs Terrain Response system, Hill descent control, ABS, traction control, roll stability control and dynamic stability control as a standard features across all variants. A special feature only for the top-spec variant is the adaptive dynamics with MagneRide.

Mercedes launches C63 S AMG

Mercedes-Benz has launched the C63 S AMG for a price of Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The compact super saloon is the AMG version of the C-Class sedan.

Though based on the C-Class, the C63 S AMG is the performance-oriented variant and boasts of an AMG-spec body kit. The exterior includes sporty bumpers, side skirts and a quad exhaust setup. The car have 19-inch wheels, which have a double slat five-spoke pattern with the AMG badging in the centre. The large brakes and contrast-coloured callipers further enhance the external design.

The basic layout and design of the car's cabin are similar to the C-Class sedan, however, Mercedes-Benz has enhanced the interior of the C63 S AMG car similar to the AMG cars. The car gets all the standard equipment from the C-Class; apart from this it gets AMG-specific seats and instruments. There is  additional chrome garnish, contrast-coloured leather sports seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and typical AMG badging.

The C63 AMG have 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 which gives 510bhp of power, about 80bhp more than its direct competitor - the BMW M3. This engine comes mated to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmission and is the same engine that powers the AMG GT S as well. The vehicle gets dynamic engine mounts and an AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension as standard. The car goes from 0-100kmph in four seconds and has an electronically limited speed of 250kmph.

Limited Edition of Duster Explore Launched

Renault India has launched the New Duster Explore. The Limited Edition Duster Explore will be available in two variants - the 85PS RXL Explore and the  110 PS RXL Explore. The two get an introductory pricing of Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively.

Limited edition car intends to showcase the spirit of exploring the outdoors with the same reassuring confidence of the Duster. The exterior modifications include new dark chrome front grille and a skid plate. Its new racing stripes enhance its sporty and robust design, while the front houses sharp, bright lamps to set the tone for an expedition. Highlighting its spirit of adventure is the wide, dark anthracite alloy wheels in a new ‘Nouveau Orange’ shade.

interior continues with the Noveau Orange theme inside, with chrome inside door handles and orange door trim fabric inserts as well as the seat fabric upholstery. The Limited Edition Duster Explore features include like Eco mode, Gearshift indicator and Cruise control with speed limiter, amongst others. The car will be powered by the 1.5-litre dCi engine and offers a choice of two power outputs, 110PS and 85PS. The powerful 110PS version has a six-speed manual transmission with gear ratios perfectly matched to the engine’s output with a fuel efficiency of 19.64kmpl (ARAI). The 85PS version features a five-speed manual transmission that delivers a best-in-class fuel efficiency of 19.87kmpl (ARAI).
