Mercedes Maybach S600 and S500 launched

Mercedes-Benz has launched the ultra-luxurious Maybach S 600 and the Maybach S 500 sedan, in India, for Rs 2.60 crore and Rs 1.67 crore respectively (ex-showroom Pune). The car in the S 600 was unveiled for the global markets last year and is the replacement for the Maybach stand-alone brand.
They get the same overall design as the S-Class range but with a bigger grille and different design for the wheels. Slotting in at 5.45-metres and with a wheelbase of 3.36 metres, it is a full 20cm longer than the LWB S-Class. One of the most noticeable elements in this vehicle is the double MM Maybach specific logo.
The S 600 and S 500’s cabin is similar to that of the standard S-Class but with a host of additional features and significantly increased legroom in the rear thanks to the longer wheelbase. The expanded feature list includes the AIR-BALANCE package, silver-plated Champagne flutes, Magic Sky Control and individual automatic climate control for each of the four passengers. Mercedes-Benz has also situated the rear seats behind the cut of the rear door and therefore, has shortened the length of the rear door. In addition to all the safety options, the Maybach cars also get seatbelt airbags which are first of their kind in any automobile.
The S 600 have 6.0-litre twin turbo V12 that gives 530bhp and  830Nm of torque with power going to the rear wheels via a new 9G-Tronic gearbox. The S 500 on the other hand, is powered a twin-turbo V8 that gives 459bhp and 700Nm of torque with power going to the rear wheels via a 7G-Tronic gearbox.
The Maybach S 600 is being imported into the country via the CBU route while the German automaker is locally assembling the S 500 at its plant in Chakan.
